A small gesture with a BIG impact
You’ve made a work of art using different-coloured self-adhesive (Post-it) notes and would like to display it in our album?
Use the FACEBOOK link below and send us the photograph or the video of your creation. It could be posted alongside the other post-it projects for the duration of the campaign.
Let's do something
For Québec Tobacco-Free Week, we invite you to do something – a small step – that will help create a tobacco-free world. Whether you’re a smoker, a former smoker or a non-smoker, you can do something to help improve our society.
Tell us what you intend to do for Québec Tobacco-Free Week.
You may take the following action
Whatever you decide to do – thank you! You can make a difference!!
You are :
Former smoker
Non smoker
Smoker
For former smokers
For Québec Tobacco-Free Week, I promise to...
Add my name to the online list of people who want to work towards achieving a smoke-free world.
Congratulate a friend or relative who has stopped smoking and thank them for helping to create a smoke-free world.
Write and send an adhesive (Post-it) note to encourage or congratulate a friend or relative.
Talk about my experience as a former smoker with kids who are thinking of quitting. (For example, offer to give a talk to your child’s class as part of a health-related lesson.) See Available resources.
Praise a kid who has decided never to smoke by congratulating him or her for making the right choice.
Talk to a kid who has started smoking and remind him or her that smokers become hooked on a product that harms themselves and the people around them. (See Helping kids to stay away from tobacco.)
Make my kids (or kids I know) aware of the disadvantages of smoking, and explain why I decided to quit.
Just say no when kids ask me to buy tobacco products for them.
Set clear rules to ban smoking at home, in the car and around young children. (See For further information on second-hand smoke.)
Take part in a sport with my kids and talk to them about the benefits of not smoking – for example, the fact that they won’t be out of breath after a sustained effort. (See 10 shocking truths to help convince kids not to smoke.)
Encourage my kids to take part in anti-smoking awareness and prevention activities at their school or youth centre. (For further information, see www.lagangallumee.com.)
For non-smokers
For Québec Tobacco-Free Week, I promise to...
Add my name to the online list of people who want to work towards achieving a smoke-free world.
Write and send an adhesive (Post-it) note to encourage or congratulate a friend or relative.
Praise a kid who has decided never to smoke by saying how proud you are that he or she made this decision despite pressure from friends and classmates.
Do something to protect non-smokers from second-hand smoke. For example, ask friends and relatives who smoke to take their cigarettes outside. (See For further information on second-hand smoke.)
Talk to a kid who has started smoking and remind him or her that smokers become hooked on a product that harms themselves and the people around them. (See Helping kids to stay away from tobacco.)
Congratulate a friend or relative who has stopped smoking and thank them for helping to create a smoke-free world.
Encourage someone who wants to stop smoking by offering my support. (See Available resources.)
